Lotus n. 171

Lotus is a quarterly Milanese architecture magazine. Since 1965 it has been a point of reference and an authoritative voice in the Italian and foreign architectural debate. 
Born in the 60s from an idea of Bruno Alfieri, over the decades it has met multiple managements and publishers, also passing through Mondadori, to then return from the early 2000s into the hands of the newborn "Editoriale Lotus", which deals specifically with this publication and follows the editorial line directly.

We selected it with curiosity after reading its long history and discovering the vital need for this magazine to carve out a space for not being one of the many publishing meteorites in its sector. The editorial team is fully successful in its intent, remaining today a periodical product with very few advertising spaces and extremely specialized content. 

Lotus is in fact an architecture magazine that is only partially technical, whose main vocation is the sector debate in the world of architecture. It is set up as a multi-voiced forum, with interventions and interviews in which different and authoritative voices discuss how this discipline and the works it creates mutate and interpret changes in society. It does so with timing, elegance and extreme attention to current events.

ISSUE 171 - People: Architecture

This issue is dedicated to people and human elegance. Dance is the common thread of this edition, recalled several times in the architectural works represented inside. Inside he discusses how architectural creations can be elegant places like the human body that can stimulate happiness and interaction between people. 

Among others, we talk about the Morandi bridge, Pina Bausch, the expansion of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the song Jerusalmena and how it has combined public spaces all over the world in flash mobs, how the new Bocconi Campus fits in. in the Milanese urban context and many other insights.
