Archivio n.10

$60.00

ARCHIVIO is the magazine of Promemoria Group. A unique object that aspires to bring to light unpublished fragments and extraordinary stories about archives, giving voice to the materials and professionals who work there; to show their passion, make us reflect and offer new perspectives on the idea and practice of memory.
ARCHIVIO is renewed every four issues. It remains the same in name, intent and vision, but changes its editorial staff, graphics and inspirations, so as to always have new interpretative keys. Thanks to the collaboration of important professionals on the international scene, starting from 2017, the magazine has so far explored over 200 archives in 10 different issues, five of which are already sold out.
The new ARCHIVIO cycle begins in 2023: four thematic issues, each curated by a Guest Editor, so that the professionals in the sector can open the doors of the archives and indicate where to look in these vast worlds.

ISSUE 10 - THE DESIGN ISSUE
After the success of the first issue dedicated to fashion, the new issue of Archivio is exclusively dedicated to design. In this new issue, the editors offer us a privileged look at the numerous international design archives, allowing us to admire their eclecticism and heterogeneity, and dividing them into three sections: “Organizations”, “Brands”, “Designers & Creatives”.
ARCHIVIO N°10 explores the different forms of design, from architecture to ceramics, with a specific focus on product design, underlining its ability to combine functionality, art and the needs of its time, because an object is never just an object.
For the magazine’s cover and front pages, Jasper Morrison has created an imaginary archive of everyday objects from different places, made at different times, linked perhaps by a specific character or a shared understanding of what it means to be an object.
The Design Issue also includes a special poster: an (in)complete mapping of the countless (and sometimes unexpected) design archives in Italy. A research by Promemoria Group visually elaborated by Accurat.

Curated by designer Jasper Morrison and Marco Sammicheli, director of the Museo del Design Italiano in Triennale Milano. The editorial direction is by Daniela Hamaui, while the art direction is by Alessandro Gori.
